Before you go

Prepare your region

Every journey begins in the Region Manager. A region contains the map, routing information, curated stories, and the local catalogue of important places. Downloading it in advance gives you reliable access even when mobile coverage is weak or unavailable.

  1. Open the Region menu. Tap the region icon on the main screen.
  2. Browse available territories. Regions already stored on your device appear as Active or Downloaded.
  3. Load a new area. Tap Load beside the destination you need. The app downloads its offline map and available local content.
  4. Manage storage. Remove regions you no longer need. Your visited places, personal markers, photographs, and earned scores remain part of your profile.

Tip: Pull down on the Region screen to refresh the catalogue and check for newly released territories.

The signature experience

Discover the city through spoken stories

Itinera TNG does more than guide you from one place to another. Each supported city contains a curated catalogue of approximately 100–200 important points of interest. These may include monuments, historic buildings, cultural sites, scenic locations, shops, resting places, and other useful or memorable stops.

Wandering Mode

Your automatic multilingual audio guide

When Wandering Mode is active, the app monitors your location in the background. As you approach an eligible POI, it automatically begins a spoken introduction in one of the available languages. You do not need to search, tap the map, or interrupt your walk.

  1. Tap the Text-to-Speech or Wandering icon.
  2. Select an available narration language.
  3. Choose the storytelling depth that suits you.
  4. Put the phone in your pocket and continue exploring.

System POIs

Curated historical, cultural, practical, or scenic places supplied with the region.

User Markers

Your own private places, such as a hotel, parking spot, viewpoint, or meeting point.

Thematic Paths

Related places grouped into a focused experience, such as a wine route or architecture trail.

Automatic Timing

Narration begins when you are close enough to the location, without manual interaction.

Important: System POIs do not come with real photographs. Their catalogue entries use generic illustrations or placeholders. The visual part of the journey is deliberately yours to create.

From ideas to a route

Build a dynamic itinerary

Use the Planner when you want more structure than Wandering Mode. Select the places that interest you, and Itinera TNG arranges them into an efficient route based on distance, travel mode, and estimated time.

  1. Browse Objectives. Open the objective list and review nearby POIs, thematic locations, and your own markers.
  2. Add stops. Tap Add to Route on each place you want to include.
  3. Optimize. Open the Planner and let the app reorder the stops into a practical sequence.
  4. Select a travel mode. Choose walking, cycling, driving, or another available profile. Estimates update automatically.
  5. Review or simulate. Preview the journey before you start, or use simulation to see how the route will unfold.

During the trip, navigation and spoken cultural narration work together: route instructions help you move, while nearby POI stories help you understand what you are passing.

Premium access

Travel Pass

Itinera TNG follows a freemium model. Core map access is available without a subscription, while the Travel Pass is designed for users who want the fullest touring experience.

What the Travel Pass unlocks

  • All available POI stories within supported regions, rather than a limited selection of major landmarks.
  • Expanded itinerary planning beyond the free route-stop limit.
  • Full spoken navigation that works alongside the automatic historical and cultural narration.

Exact availability can vary by region, language, and app version. The subscription screen inside the app is the authoritative place to review the current offering.

Good habits on the road

Practical travel tips

  • Download the destination region before leaving reliable Wi-Fi.
  • Enable the narration language and voice you prefer before starting.
  • Use headphones responsibly, keeping enough awareness of traffic and your surroundings.
  • Allow location access required by the app so automatic nearby narration can work.
  • Choose the correct travel mode to improve routing and time estimates.
  • Take your POI photographs from safe, permitted locations.
  • Add notes to personal markers so they remain useful long after the trip.

Best way to begin: download one city, activate Wandering Mode, choose a narration style, and walk without planning every stop. Let the nearby stories reveal the route—then return to the places that inspire you and complete them with your own photographs.

Frequently asked questions

Things worth knowing

Does the app only provide navigation? +

No. Navigation is only one part of the experience. The app also knows a curated set of important places in the city and can automatically narrate their stories when you approach them.

How many POIs are available in a city? +

A supported city typically contains approximately 100–200 curated points, although the exact number depends on the region and the content available there.

Do I need to tap a POI to hear its story? +

Not in Wandering Mode. When the feature is enabled and you enter the relevant area around a supported POI, narration can begin automatically in the selected available language.

Why are there no real photos on system POIs? +

This is intentional. The system catalogue starts with generic visuals so that you can complete it with photographs taken during your own visits. The result is a personal travel gallery rather than a pre-filled photo database.

Can I add places that are not in the official catalogue? +

Yes. Create your own marker, then add a title, note, and photograph. Personal points can represent practical stops or private memories.

Can I use the app without an internet connection? +

The Offline Regions feature is designed for this purpose. Download the required territory in advance. Features that depend on online services may still vary, so prepare the region before travelling into an area with limited coverage.
